THE STEWARDS.
A Living Tribute to the People Who Shape Our Neighborhood
Sometimes the community builder is a civil servant. Sometimes it’s a basketball coach who keeps a recreation program alive, a photographer who captures the essence of the block, or a teacher who helps young people discover what they’re capable of.
These are the people who make a neighborhood more than a place. These are the pillars that hold up a community.
The Stewards celebrates those who have shaped Bed-Stuy and Crown Heights through their work, their care, their creativity, and their commitment to others. Some are widely recognized. Others are only known to the people whose lives they've changed. All have a story worth telling.
Keep Bed-Stuy Bed-Stuy. Keep Crown Heights Crown Heights.
Because preserving the character of our neighborhoods begins with recognizing the people who give them character.

Living Legacy
Looking at Assemblymember Stefani L. Zinerman’s public record, a consistent commitment emerges: preserving the neighborhoods we call home, protecting the people who built them, and creating opportunities for those who will shape their future.
Her work extends across housing, education, cultural preservation, and community care. She recognizes the importance of books and learning, the wisdom of elders whose contributions are too often overlooked, and the responsibility to ensure that young people have the resources and opportunities to imagine something greater for themselves.
But public service is not only what happens inside a legislative chamber. It is also about showing up. Listening. Standing alongside neighbors when challenges arise. Being present in the places where decisions affect people’s everyday lives.
For Assemblymember Stefani L. Zinerman, that commitment to community began long before she entered elected office. It is part of a larger story of service, one that cannot be measured by a title alone.
To keep Bed-Stuy Bed-Stuy and Crown Heights Crown Heights is to recognize that a neighborhood’s identity lives in its people. It is a responsibility shared across generations—to honor what has been built while making room for what comes next.
Because a neighborhood’s legacy is not built by one person alone.
It lives in the homes we protect, the stories we preserve, the knowledge we share, and the people who continue the work.
And that record belongs to the people who live here.
The story is still being written.
